Casa NOMI – a 100 + year old home that has been lovingly restored located in beautiful Onekama, Michigan. The elevated site of Casa NOMi delivers fresh breezes and Portage Lake views while nestled among acreage of trees on three sides. 

Casa NOMI is ideally situated between charming Onekama downtown and Portage Lake and 2 miles from Lake Michigan. 

Kari Tomashik is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT -500 level) with the Yoga Alliance since 1999 and Director of Kariyoga, Artful Alignment, and Eischens Yoga.

Your Natural 2026 Summer Yoga  Experience Includes:

  • Daily Yoga Schedule –  4 full days of yoga together in beautiful Northern Michigan with a daily yoga, pranayama, meditation, and chanting practice; practice unique, traditional yoga techniques called Transformational Work and Artful Alignment. 
  • Deep, Nature Connection – Enjoy a deep, nature connection coupled with the crispness of the air to awaken your senses and infuse your yoga practice with a renewed sense of clarity, energy, and an enthusiastic spirit. A bonus – you receive a Vitamin D boost that improves your immune function and increases your positive outlook. 
  • Local Meals w Gluten-free and Vegan options available –  Gluten-free breakfasts, lunches, & dinners are provided daily. To the best of our abilities we offer locally-sourced and/or organic food options. Each day we share meals together, eat a light breakfast of rice cakes, organic nut butters and jellies, yogurt, fruits, coffee and teas, and share in daily delicious, locally-provided lunches and dinners.

    • Delicious Lunches from L’chayim and Dinners from The Eatery at Up North Fields. Lunches and Dinners will include Daily Garden Fresh Salads, Homemade Salad Dressings, and Kari’s  Dhal Soup.
    • Lunches provided by L’chayim. L’chayims menu (https://www.lchayimdeli.com/menu)  offers GF, vegan, or meat sandwiches that are of excellent quality.
    • Dinners provided by The Eatery at Up North Fields. The Eatery at Up North Fields menu (https://www.upnorthfields.com/ ) which offers exquisite gourmet farm-to-table meals that are GF, vegan, or meat centric. These meals are wholesome, delicious, and nutritious. Everyone who eats here loves the food. Homemade Tamales also provided by Spanglish, located in Traverse City, MI.

  • Play – Each day will be filled with fun activities such as swimming in Lake Michigan, beach olympics, hiking in the forest or on the beach, beach fires and sunsets, and beach dancing.
  • Rest, Art, and Intentional Solitude – If you want to take it slow and easy there will be quiet areas for art and/or journaling. 

2026  Summer Yoga Highlights:

  • Daily gluten-free and/or vegan meals, locally-sourced and organic (if available). 
  • Daily yoga practice to achieve strength, flexibility, and connection between our mind, body, heart, and breath. 
  • Yoga postures that align, energize, and heal the body, mind, and heart for purposeful and conscious living.
  • Learn conscious and controlled breathing techniques (pranayama) to promote relaxation, stress-reduction, and emotional healing.
  • Daily meditation practice is scientifically proven to create lasting change by setting intentions in our mind and feeling positive emotions in our heart.
  • Daily restorative poses to relieve tension and reduce pain.
  • Gong therapy is a vibrational healing technique to soothe and relax the brain and nervous system. 
  • Art and  journaling as a creative expression of abundance and gratitude. 
  • Water therapy includes swimming in Lake Michigan, as well as beach camp fires, beach olympics, and fun beach games.

2026  Summer Yoga Experience

Kick off this yoga experience on Friday, August 28, 2026, by arriving in beautiful Onekama, MI, at 4 pm to settle into your room. Enjoy a casual dinner at Ketch22, an outdoor food truck venue nearby, followed by a relaxing Lake Michigan beach walk or bonfire.

Arrival: 4 pm, Friday – August 28, 2026
Orientation: Familiarize yourself with Casa NOMi. Please bring your own yoga props and explore Casa NoMI.

7:30 PMEvening Social: Relax with a beach walk or bonfire on the shores of Lake Michigan.

Note: As Ketch22 is an outdoor food truck venue, please dress comfortably and warm for the evening weather.

  • Saturday – Tuesday Overview,  August 28 – September 1, 2026
    • 6:30 am – 8:15 am:  Breakfast: Coffee, Tea, Fruit, Yogurt, Rice Cakes, Butters and Jams. 
    • 8:30 am – 11:30 am:  Pranayama. Yoga. Meditation. Sound Immersion. Restoratives.  
    • 11:30 am – 3 pm:  Lunch. Beach time. Relaxation. Art.
    • 3 pm – 6 pm: Pranayama. Yoga. Meditation/Art/Journaling. Transformational Work. Sound Immersion. Restoratives. 
    • 6:15 pm – 9 pm: Dinner. Beach fire. Beach games. Walk or adventure. Art.

Healing Injury? For those who have a history of injury or trauma and notice that the effects of the minor/major injuries are beginning to interfere with your everyday lives, please note that all of the yoga classes are naturally healing.

Each yoga class is designed to help release stored pain, anxiety, stress, or tension you may be experiencing so that vital, healing energy – prana – can move freely through the entire body. When vital energy is flowing freely (not obstructed), you experience positive emotions, revitalized energy, mental clarity, lightness, pain relief, and an overall sense of well-being.

Whether you are a returning practitioner or joining for the first time, you are warmly invited to join our upcoming yoga retreat sessions. Designed for everyone, these sessions offer a supportive space to reconnect, grow, and rejuvenate. Explore, relax, and deepen your practice with us, whether you attend one session or the entire, rejuvenating retreat journey.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Your cooperation and understanding of this cancellation policy is greatly appreciated. If you have booked a space for the retreat and are unable to attend for any reason, please let me know as soon as possible, so that space can be offered to someone else. 

  • For cancellations 30 days (7/28/2026) or more in advance of the retreat, 100% of the registration cost will be refunded.
  • For cancellations up to 16 days (7/29/2026 – 8-11-2026) or more prior to the retreat, 30% of the registration cost will be refunded.
  • Cancellations within 15 days (8/12/2026) or less of the retreat, registration cost cannot be refunded.
  • In the event of the cancellation of the retreat by the organizer, you will receive a full registration cost refund.
