Saturday Yoga Sessions – February 15, 2025
Inspiration:
“The practice of asanas lubricates the joints and increases mobility, bringing awareness to each muscle, joint, and organ. Different combinations of asanas improve the range of movement for each muscle and joint, helping align the left and right sides of the body.” — B.K.S. Iyengar
Saturday, 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm | Session A
Develop Lower Core Strength
Description: Lower core strength refers to the strength and stability of the muscles in the lower abdomen and pelvic region, which are crucial for supporting the spine and maintaining proper posture.
Building a strong core encompasses both physical and psychological aspects; when we feel strong in our core, we often also feel mentally strong, resilient and empowered, and we’re also much less likely to experience back pain or injuries when engaging in everyday activities
Lower abdominal muscles:
These are the muscles that lie below the navel and help stabilize the pelvis and spine.
Pelvic floor muscles:
These muscles form the base of the pelvis and play a vital role in supporting the organs and maintaining continence.
Hip flexors:
These muscles help to bend the hip and are important for stability and power in yoga poses.
Back muscles:
While not strictly part of the “lower core,” strong back muscles are essential for supporting the spine and maintaining good posture, which is important for yoga practice.
Benefits:
Transformational Work:
Feel the positive energy flow, and receive expert feedback to enhance your body’s foundation and alignment.

Description: Upper core strength” refers to the strength and stability of the muscles in the upper abdomen, back, and head, neck, and shoulders that contribute to overall core strength and stability.
Engaging the abdominal muscles:
This includes the rectus abdominis (front abs), transverse abdominis (deep core), and obliques (side abs), which are essential for stability and movement control.
Strengthening the back muscles:
The erector spinae group, which runs along the spine, provides support and helps maintain posture.
Improving shoulder stability:
The muscles around the shoulder girdle, including the rotator cuff muscles, contribute to upper body strength and stability, particularly important in poses like arm balances and inversions.
Benefits:
Transformational Work:
Unlock your body’s potential with guided feedback, creating space for energy flow and relaxation.
