Yoga for Digestive Health: Increase Vitality, Aid Digestion, and Decrease Stress with Breathing Techniques and Asanas
Deep, mindful breathing helps the body to rest and digest. Breathing deeply and mindfully takes us out of the flight-fright-fight response that causes blood to move from the gut to other larger muscles in body. Being in a constant flight-fright-fight response interferes with digestion and weakens the immune system and can increase inflammation.
In this class, we will practice alternate nostril breathing to encourage slow, mindful breathing to help the body and mind relax, so the nervous system experiences calm feelings and a sense of safety.
We will also connect to the body’s gut-brain axis, by practicing diaphragm breathing and abdominal breathing (belly breath), to bring more concentrated blood into the belly and gut area of the body to improve digestion.
The asanas (yoga postures) we practice will aid our digestion process and improve our immune response.

When vital energy is flowing freely (not obstructed), you experience positive emotions, revitalized energy, mental clarity, lightness, pain relief, and an overall sense of well-being.
